Fantastic sgriffito plant pot from Dumler and Breiden, iconic West German pottery producers. Sgriffito is an Italian technique of laying different colours of slip, to then scratch away to different depths and reveal the colours below. This pot has very distinct layers, from a dark brown top coat, through red and orange layers and finally a creamy white. The deepest layer is a beautiful swirl design in a band around the pot. Deep brown glossy glaze to interior. Marked '700/11' 'German' to base (pots of this kind, marked 'German' and not 'West Germany' were produced post-1970s). Measures 10cm tall, 11cm wide.
