A striking vintage West German pottery planter or jardinière with bold applied relief decoration — abstract loop and oval forms — beneath a layered fat lava glaze in amber, burnt orange, dark brown and cream. The interior is finished in a deep dark tenmoku glaze. Heavy, well-made piece with a confident Mid-Century Modern aesthetic. Marked “W. Germany” with a number code to the base. Typical of the high-quality decorative ceramics produced by smaller West German factories during the 1960s–70s, now widely collected for their bold forms and dramatic glazes.
