This is a beautiful hand painted boot vase by Blue Ridge pottery. Personally, I think it gives a character rather than take away from the beauty. There might be a trick that I’m unaware of. It is supposed to be a vase, but it could easily be used for multiple things i.e. an umbrella holder by the front door.
