This vintage piece of soviet era art pottery is by the Konakovo factory. Established in around 1809 in the Tver region, Konakovo became one of the most renowned faience and ceramics producers in the Soviet Union. This avant-garde design, featuring a stylised giraffe with abstract circular motif, is accredited to the sculptor/artist, V. Sergeev. Each piece was always glazed by hand, therefore, no two giraffe figurines bear the exact pattern layout. Early numbered studio pieces are now highly sought after by collectors. This piece bears the number 62. It dates to the 1960s. It measures 25cm x 10cm approximately and weighs 183g. It is in excellent condition.
