Under the base of the statue, the piece is clearly marked with a crown, the word "DENMARK" with a vertical line below the "E" indicating the piece was produced in 1950, three blue wavy lines (the famous Royal Copenhagen waves), the letters "YH" for the skilled painter of the statue, the number 3002 identifying the piece as the "Sleeping Heron", and an incised number 21.
