This is a gorgeous mid-century modern HYALYN made in USA “America’s finest porcelain” #773 ashtray with a design of flying ducks (mallards) . Hyalyn Porcelain was produced in Hickory, North Carolina, from the late 1940s until the 1970s. Ashtrays with similar duck motifs were popular during the mid-century period. The 6.5” ashtray has a circular shape with several indentations around the edge to hold cigarettes. The center of the ashtray depicts two ducks in flight over a grassy area, rendered in muted colors. The overall design is characteristic of mid-century modern style. This beauty must have been displayed because it shows no signs of having been used.
