For sale is a pair of vintage Russian Gzhel porcelain candlesticks. They are 7.5” tall and 4.5” wide. Both are stamped and one is signed with the artist’s initials. They were made at different times as is noted by the different stamps. They are the same shape and size but have slight differences in the details of the painting. They look beautiful together. Gzhel porcelain began early in the 18th century in the clay-rich region not far from Moscow. Production continues today in about 30 villages southeast of Moscow. Traditional Russian Gzhel porcelain is identified by its hand-painted cobalt blue floral motifs on white ceramic. Every piece is made entirely by hand. These candlesticks are stunning and both are in beautiful condition, very clean with no chips or cracks.
