This beautiful hand painted Delft Blau lidded jar (11.5 cm tall) features illustrations by Jan Luyken (1649–1712), a renowned Dutch poet, illustrator, and engraver from Amsterdam known for his detailed, often dramatic, copperplate etchings and introspective, pietistic poetry. Working with his son Caspar, he created thousands of prints, including the famous Spiegel van het Menselyk Bedryf (Book of Trades). There are four scenes on the jar. On the top is an illustration of a Dutch miller with windmills in the background. On the side of the jar there are illustrations of a musician, a stonemason and a watchmaker. The jar, which dates from the mid 20th century, is in excellent condition with no chips cracks or crazing. The painter’s signature is on the base of the jar.
