Victorian English majolica jardinière (plant pot/vase)

£156.70

This is a beautiful Victorian English majolica jardinière (plant pot/vase) with an acanthus leaf relief design and a characteristic blended glaze — green at the base fading to brown/amber at the top with a ruffled, wavy rim. It’s a classic late Victorian decorative piece. The mark on the base reads “PRINCESS, Rd No 332012” — “Princess” is the pattern or shape name, and the Rd No. is a British Registered Design number. Based on the British registered design number table, Rd No. 332012 falls in the range 331707–351201, which corresponds to 1899. So this piece was registered (and likely made) around 1899. Almost certainly a Staffordshire pottery.
