When you think of Peggy Davies figurines an image of pretty ladies in crinoline dresses comes to mind but this is one of her earliest figures with a copyright date of 1954. She joined Royal Doulton in 1949 and worked with many of the best sculptors. This is entitled "The Foaming Quart" projecting a drunkard (I assume) with a quart pot in his hand. He is seated in a high backed chair and stands or rather sits 6 inches (15.2cm). It was produced from 1955 until 1992 when it was retired but the back stamp is earlier in that period. Peggy Davies died in 1999.
