Both the base and lid are factory first-quality pieces in excellent condition, made and hand-painted in Denmark around 1980. This version of the fluted pattern was originally designed in 1885 by Arnold Krog, the artistic leader at The Royal Porcelain Factory from 1884 to 1916.
