This 6 1/8” historical blue plate was made by Joseph Stubbs in Staffordshire England sometime in the first quarter of the 19th century. The front of the plate features New York’s Park Theater with a couple and young child standing across the street. The medium blue transfer is well centered, reasonably clear and unblemished except for a few pot stones. The back of the plate is impressed with Stubbs, the earliest of the marks used by this pottery, and imprinted Park Theater New York. There are several pot stones but no chips or cracks.
