A very rare Carter and Co Poole pottery tile 7x7 inches mounted in wood frame taken from a fireplace in the old hospital in Bridgwater Somerset Painted by a Belgian refugee fleeing the war who arrived at Carters in 1914 and remained as an artist called Joseph Roulants .Hewasknownfor hos depuctionof peasant life and Dutch scenes.This tile was produced around 1919/20 ( see Poole Pottery .Hayward and Atterbury p 10 ) A rare and delightful item I have two others listed together from the same group
