Here is a gorgeous circa 1840's Minton English fine earthenware Majolica "Silenus" jug or pitcher. Silenus was a companion of Bacchus, the Greek god of wine. Jug measures 8 1/4" tall x 8" wide x 5 1/4" deep. It is in perfect, mint condition which is rare for its age. Very heavy, thick earthenware body with high relief images: Silenus and friends, grape vines, and a donkey.
