This crystal owl is a larger, three-dimensional version of the Mats Jonasson "Uggla" (Owl) sculpture from the Målerås Glassworks in Sweden. While your previous owl was a flatter, desktop paperweight, this "block" style sculpture is one of Jonasson's more substantial works. It features the same reverse-intaglio technique, where the bird's features are deeply carved into the back of the crystal to create a lifelike, three-dimensional effect when viewed from the front.
