This is a vintage Japanese clay bell, also known as a dorei. Dorei bells have a long history and have been used in festivals and ceremonies since the Jomon period (approximately 13,000 to 2,300 years ago), when they were said to have the power to ward off evil spirits. Featuring a colorful illustration of an ox cart (goshoguruma in Japanese) with flowers and leaves. This dorei is pink on the bottom half and white on the top half.
