This is a scarce Jacqueline Leighton-Boyce decorative studio pottery tile, with a lovely hand-painted design of a butterfly with berries, foliage and flowers. It is made of a terracotta clay with a felt backing, and the upper decorative painted surface is glazed. The tile measures approximately 11cm square and 1.5cm thick. There are some natural irregularities to the tile due to the handmaking process, and some natural crackling to the glaze. No makers mark (unless it's hidden under the felt backing), but unmistakably the work of Jackie Leighton-Boyce. Please see photos for further detail. A small but lovely example of this potter's unique body of work.
