For sale we have a lovely old majolica box in the form of a wooden boat with a large door and reeded pitched roof. It may be a model of a French boat or even Noahs Ark. It was made by H Boulenger et Cie at Choisy Le Roi in the early c20th and has printed and impressed backstamps. It measures 27cm long, 11cm wide and 15cm tall. It is in good condition but with the following faults. The base has a very minor knick to the rim, a 1cm internal firing tear, a few minor firing flaws and crazing. The lid has a 10cm hairline at the apex of the roof and three short ones at the internal rim that look like firing flaws. There is a firing underglaze tear around about half of the internal rim and a couple of minor chips to the outside of the lid. Please see photos for condition.
