The colours remain strong and fresh, and the glaze has a rich depth typical of Rhead’s finest work. Three small firing stilt marks are also present, entirely normal for pieces of this kind. Unlike the standard circular form this piece is made in an oval shape with distinctive side handles, making it a particularly unusual and scarce variant.
