Bitossi Ceramiche “Bird on Stand” No. 34, from the Rimini Blu collection designed by Aldo Londi. The bird is hand-finished in the collection’s signature blue glaze, with impressed geometric sgraffito banding and touches of green and chartreuse beneath the crystalline surface. It sits on its original black metal stand. Rimini Blu was created by Londi, Bitossi’s artistic director, in the late 1950s, and takes its name from the Adriatic coast. The collection has remained in production ever since, and this piece is a later Bitossi Ceramiche production rather than a 1960s original — the base carries the impressed circular Bitossi Ceramiche crest with “Made in Italy”.
