These ceramic “ house” banks were all the rage in the mid-1970s -mid 1980s. What makes this one especially sweet is the cheery, hand painted trim in complementary orange and blue tones. The piece is stamped “ JAPAN” on the bottom, and somehow has retained its stopper through the years. There is a glaze skip ( not a chip, it’s glazed) on the upper turret window, some glaze overages on the underside ( green, from the shrubbery) and minimal shelf wear underneath, as consistent with age. Overall, the piece is in excellent vintage condition and would make a cute addition to any Otagiri, 80s, or piggy bank collection. Otagiri-style Victorian House Bank 80’s Marked “Japan”.
