The present casket, however, is executed in the considerably rarer satin rose-pink opaline, a colour variation encountered far less frequently and particularly sought after by collectors. It would make a distinguished addition to any collection of French opaline, Napoleon III decorative arts, Palais Royal objects, or fine nineteenth-century luxury antiques.
