This plate was made by J.W. Sharpus who traded in glass and china from Oxford Street, London during the Victorian era. It shows hand painted images of Greek and Roman mythology depicting Diana, the goddess of the hunt, wild animals, and the moon, and Apollo, the god of music, poetry, light, and healing. It is Indian red and black on an off-white background with Grecian motifs on the outer edge and centre. The plate is in reasonable condition with some signs of age. There is a chip on the back and a hairline crack as shown in the photographs. The diameter is 26cms.
