A set of 2 Beautiful German Majolica hanging bird plates. 1 is 8inches and the other 9inches. Majolica is a lead or tin glazed earthenware which is first fired to the biscuit stage. Then it is decorated with brightly colored metallic glazes and fired again. This gives the piece the brilliance which is characteristic of majolica. Wear is consistent with its age, the larger plate has a chip on the border as shown in the photos. Some very minor paint loss to raised surfaces which doesnt take away the beauty of the plates.
