Modelled in the form of a Toby, with an orange lustre jacket and holding a flagon. With holes in the hat for the release of the salt or pepper, and aperture in his "rear" for filling. Although usually described as pepper or salt pots, they were also used as sand shakers for drying pen ink whilst writing.
